Home-Based Business Conference 2020 logoHome-Based Business Conference

The Greater Peninsula Economic Development partners are pleased to announce that the 5th annual Home‐Based Business Conference will return on Friday, March 20, 2020 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center, located at 600 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666.

This unique event features conference sessions and specialty breakout tracks focused on topics relevant to all stages and types of home‐based businesses including traditional, franchise and direct & network marketing. Attendees will also discover local resources for their businesses from among over 20 exhibitors.

Many of this year’s speakers will focus on marketing strategies and tactics, as well as ways home‐based business owners can protect their organizations.

Each ticket costs $40 and includes breakfast, lunch and snacks. Early bird and chamber member discounts are available. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken for just $25.

This event has received national recognition as a “Top 100 Brilliant Ideas at Work Across the Nation” from the National Association of Counties and was a gold award recipient of “Excellence in Economic Development” from the International Economic Development Council. The event was also a Virginia Association of Counties achievement award winner in 2017.

Presenters

Greg Tilley has 40 years of experience, mostly in executive positions in small to mid sized companies.  He was a founding partner in a geo-spatial technology startup that was later sold to Cyient, a global engineering firm.  He then stayed on to serve as CEO of Cyient’s US operations.  Before joining SCORE, Greg founded a consulting practice, helping companies with sales and business planning.

Gretchen Bedell is Awesome.  She’s the Lady in Charge of Odd Moxie, a creative services firm that specializes in marketing visuals and branding strategy.  She is also the co-owner of Work Nimbly, Williamsburg’s creative CoWorking space, a productive haven for freelancers, entrepreneurs, and independent workers in Hampton Roads. When she’s not running her shops, and helping small businesses grow, she adventures with her kids, spends time with her husband and their ever-growing menagerie, occasionally saves the world, and has been known to pick up a book or two to read.

Robert ‘Bob’ Yuill has over 47 years of experience in the federal/defense communities.  As an accomplished military officer, he had over 27 years of service followed by an additional 20 years as a federal/defense contractor for both large and small companies. Bob has managed and led military personnel from the tactical through strategic levels within the Department of Defense and performed as an analyst through Program Manager and Division Director within industry. Assignments have ranged from company command level to major staff support within the US Army as well as Combatant Commands retiring as a Colonel. He as extensive capture and proposal management experience both as a government employee and as a contractor with contract wins in excess of $15B in contract values while working for Large companies (Sverdrup Technology and Jacobs Engineering) and Small businesses (Cyberspace Solutions, LLC) and as the current  President and CEO of YUILL Strategic Solutions, LLC.  Bob has Master’s Degrees from the National Defense University (Strategic Resources) and the University of Southern California (Systems Management) and a Bachelor Degree from Bentley University (Business Management).
