Presenter
Robert ‘Bob’ Yuill has over 47 years of experience in the federal/defense communities. As an accomplished military officer, he had over 27 years of service followed by an additional 20 years as a federal/defense contractor for both large and small companies. Bob has managed and led military personnel from the tactical through strategic levels within the Department of Defense and performed as an analyst through Program Manager and Division Director within industry. Assignments have ranged from company command level to major staff support within the US Army as well as Combatant Commands retiring as a Colonel. He as extensive capture and proposal management experience both as a government employee and as a contractor with contract wins in excess of $15B in contract values while working for Large companies (Sverdrup Technology and Jacobs Engineering) and Small businesses (Cyberspace Solutions, LLC) and as the current President and CEO of YUILL Strategic Solutions, LLC. Bob has Master’s Degrees from the National Defense University (Strategic Resources) and the University of Southern California (Systems Management) and a Bachelor Degree from Bentley University (Business Management).

Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center Workshop: SWaM Certification Session
Are you a small, woman or minority-owned business (SWaM)? Small business owners who are looking to participate in Virginia’s specialized procurement and contracting opportunities are encouraged to become SWaM certified.
SWaM certification is a state program established to promote economic growth of Virginia’s businesses. In this hands-on workshop session you will create your account, receive assistance with uploading required documents and get answers to any questions you may have. SBSD staff will be on-site to assist.

Starting and running a non-profit organization requires more applications and approvals than a conventional business. How long will it take?

Presenter
Roy Madsen is a retired Deputy Comptroller of the Currency in the Department of Treasury. He has 40 years of experience in conducting and managing financial, accounting, strategy, planning and productivity/management improvements activities. In addition, Roy established a successful small home improvement/construction company as well as a small professional accounting firm. Roy has an MBA in Finance, an MS in Tax and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also a Lean Six Sigma Master Blackbelt.
