[ARCHIVED] CERT Training to Begin April 6

If a disaster threatens or occurs, do you know what to do? If you take the James City County/Williamsburg Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, you will!

In a major emergency, fire and law enforcement may not be able to reach you as quickly as they would otherwise. You must be prepared to take care of yourself wherever you may be – at home, at work, or on the road.

CERT is a national program designed to educate residents about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area and train them in basic disaster response skills. Course material includes disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, terrorism, emergency communication, basic emergency skills, and more.

CERT is an all-abilities program. It is available at no charge to all residents of James City County and Williamsburg, age 18 and older. The 30-hour course begins Thursday, April 6 from 6:30-10 p.m. and will conclude on April 29 with a simulated disaster exercise.

If you are interested, need more information or would like a full class schedule, visit the website or call 757-564-2142.

Class size is limited, so reserve your place now.
