James City County personal property and real estate tax bills have been mailed and are due Monday, June 5.
Personal Property Taxes
In 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved a one-year reduction in the assessment percentage used to assess vehicles from 100% to 75% of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) value in order to provide relief from the unprecedented increase in the values of used vehicles. For 2023, the percentage has returned to 100%.
Real Estate Taxes
Real estate tax invoices have been mailed to all real estate owners. If an escrow is established for a property, please check the monthly mortgage statement to ensure funds are in escrow. The reduction in the real estate tax rate from $.84 to $.83/per $100 was approved by the Board of Supervisors to continue through the end of Fiscal Year 23 (June 30, 2023).
If you have not received your tax bill by May 10, please call the Treasurer’s Office at 757-253-6705. Taxes are still due even if you did not receive the bill.

If paying by debit or credit card (in person, online or by telephone) a 2.95% convenience fee will be applied at the time of payment. Payments online by e-Check (ACH) will not incur a fee.
