Chief Rinehimer has been with James City County Police Department since 1995. Prior to becoming Chief in January 2014, he served for seven years as the Division Commander for Community Services, Administrative Services, Colonial Community Corrections and Records.
Chief Rinehimer has worked in most areas of the department and has been in a number of positions, to include Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Community Services Officer, Assistant SWAT Team Commander, and Community Services Lieutenant. He also served as Commander for both the Uniform and Investigations divisions.
During his police career, Chief Rinehimer successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree program in Criminology from St. Leo University. He also completed a Master’s degree program through the University of Cincinnati. Chief Rinehimer is a graduate of the 234th session of the FBI National Academy, the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, and the VACP/VCPF Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond.
Prior to joining James City County Police Department, Chief Rinehimer served four years in the United States Navy as a Submarine Nuclear Propulsion Plant Mechanical Operator.
